GSTians
prove it yet again. Our college SIES GST shone at the recently held
inter-collegiate sports tournament conducted by the University of Mumbai, with
our students bagging accolades in various sport events.
The
inter-collegiate chess tournament was conducted on a five zone basis. Out of a
whopping 185 colleges that participated in the chess tournament, our college secured the fourth position in Zone-3, while
coming up at the seventh position among all the zones. The team consisted of
the following members- Jaspreet Singh Kohli, Neeraj Keskar, Jishnu Vasudevan,
Virendra Desai-Patil, Ajay Rawat and Sagar Matkar.
Gstians even
proved their mettle in the sport of taekwondo. Ruchika Rokade attained the
seventh position in the category ‘Bantam’ (49-53 kg), Serena Saldanha stood at
the sixth position in the category ‘Light’ (57-62 kg) while Riya Iyer secured
the fifth position in the ‘Welter’ category (62-67 kg).
The fencing
competition saw the participation of 45 colleges in the women’s category.
Nilofer Sheikh was triumphant in the category ‘Foil’ with securing the second
position.
